Saw the Denny window &#8211; the verger seemed to think his best work is at Chepstow in a small parish church, must find out more about him.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n.<a href=\"\/blog_camino_2008\/wp-content\/uploads\/WindowsLiveWriter\/GloustertoSharpnessCanal_132F0\/PICT0018.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0px\" src=\"\/blog_camino_2008\/wp-content\/uploads\/WindowsLiveWriter\/GloustertoSharpnessCanal_132F0\/PICT0018_thumb.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"PICT0018\" width=\"435\" height=\"327\" \/><\/a> Now I notice that the Gloucester &ndash; Sharpness Canal goes to Slimbridge by a much more direct path than the winding River Severn so follow it from Gloucester docks (greasy spoon breakfast at 09:00). Rather damp day but cape working well; once over the pack it can be adjusted to cope with heat or rain in various ways. I&rsquo;m sure I look ridiculous but who cares..\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<a href=\"\/blog_camino_2008\/wp-content\/uploads\/WindowsLiveWriter\/GloustertoSharpnessCanal_132F0\/PICT0026.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0px\" src=\"\/blog_camino_2008\/wp-content\/uploads\/WindowsLiveWriter\/GloustertoSharpnessCanal_132F0\/PICT0026_thumb.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"PICT0026\" width=\"464\" height=\"349\" \/><\/a>&nbsp; <a href=\"\/blog_camino_2008\/wp-content\/uploads\/WindowsLiveWriter\/GloustertoSharpnessCanal_132F0\/PICT0027.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0px\" src=\"\/blog_camino_2008\/wp-content\/uploads\/WindowsLiveWriter\/GloustertoSharpnessCanal_132F0\/PICT0027_thumb.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"PICT0027\" width=\"471\" height=\"354\" \/><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe water way obviously dates to Victorian times and the bridge keepers&#39; cottages have incongruous Greek\/Roman pillars around their front doors.
