Mendip Ring +

Circular Faulkland, Writhlington, Hemington. 10 Miles

This walk starts at the Village Green Faulkland. (Grid Ref 739545) follows the Mendip Ring to Kilmersdon passing the bottom of Jack & Jill Hill, crossing the Collier's Way, then returns via Green Parlour Farm, Turner's Tower, and Hemington.

1.
With your back to the village green walk up through the village towards the pub then turn right into Grove Lane, follow this until you reach a sharp right hand bend, turn left here then right into the bridleway, follow the path downhill through a gate and into Tenantsfield Lane, ( this can be muddy) Follow this muddy track uphill until the track firms up at the top, you now follow this out to reach a lane, turn left then take the second footpath on the right, continue across the field through another k/gate then slightly right through another k/gate then head up the slope to exit the field near to Foxcote Church.

Turn right then when the road bends right take the enclosed footpath down the left side of the house and follow this downhill and into the woods at the bottom this path soon brings you out to a lane at Lower Writhlington. Turn left up the road, at the junction take the lane off to the right, then at the right hand bend follow the footpath through the farm gate ahead and up the hill to reach the lane at the top. Turn left and follow the road to reach the A362.

Cross the A362 into Knobsbury Lane follow this pass the school then turn right into Mells Lane then at the first footpath on the left turn into the drive of Huish House, follow this down through the gate at the bottom and follow the drive round to the left, when you reach the entrance to Huish House bear right through the farm gate down the hill to pass under the old railway (Colliers Way). Turn left and follow the path across the fields to reach a lane.

Turn right and follow the lane up to reach Kilmersdon passing the bottom of Jack & Jill Hill on the way, turn left down Church Lane and follow the path into the bridleway continue over the Colliers Way (the old railway line) to pass Home Farm on your left on reaching the B3139. Turn left into Knobsbury Lane again , on reaching Upper Lentney Farm turn right then second left to follow the lane up to the A362 cross over and continue to the T junction at Green Parlour Farm, here turn right and take the footpath to the left of the house NOT the bridleway on the right, follow the path through the farm and across the fields to reach Turners Terrace. Cross the A366 and take the footpath (not the bridleway ) across the fields to reach Kingman's Farm and on to reach Hemington. Turn left along the lane, pass Tyning's Hill on your left and follow the lane to reach Fulwell Lane, turn left here, then take the next path on your right now follow this path across the fields, at the T junction of paths turn left then right passing the ponds on your right to reach Faulkland Village Green again.
